Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hard courts

A comeback Daniil Medvedev claimed his first trophy for 882 days with success over Frenchman Moutet in the competition final.

The athlete, a former world number one, has experienced a torrid period, managing just one win at the major tournaments and suffering a setback at the US Open.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his service game in especial - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and finally splitting with former mentor his previous coach.

Now working with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, he has steadily improved in the recent weeks - peaking in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over challenger Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's initial trophy following the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard surface after March of that year.

Success also indicates the Russian has won twenty-one championships at 21 distinct events.

"For the first time I am participating in a competition with my children simultaneously, so to secure a championship is especially meaningful," said ranked player Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my second daughter Victoria, because the first title I achieved when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had lost his previous six finals, featuring in Halle earlier this year.

The player's counter-punching strategy and frequent emotional displays on the playing surface had led observers to question if his capacity to play at the highest level was over.

Yet the athlete has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to come to the net and play aggressively, reinforced by an enhanced service.

Medvedev recovered from a break down in the first set against the challenging opponent, securing 4 of the concluding five points to go ahead.

The competitors traded break points in the middle set before the challenger, striving for his maiden professional victory, seized the initiative to push for a third set.

He rescued four early-game chances in a competitive deciding set before the champion secured a break to fifteen to secure the win.

Suitably, the winner clinched victory with a shot at the front of the court, with his opponent unable to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
